Tools that we use
We use a variety of different tools for investigations depending on what is needed at the time.
Here are some tools that we use:
Digital Cameras:
We use a Kodak Z650 6 Mega pixel Digital Camera for investigations. We also use two DC-3185 digital cameras as well.
Also in our arsenal are two Kodak KV270 35mm Camera’s. Digital cameras are wonderful for the amount of pictures they can hold and instant gratification. However, because of our advances in technology, they tend to pick up a lot more dust, etc that can be misinterpreted. You can see Wendy Cywinski’s article on the subject HERE
Voice Recorders:
The RCA RP5022, Olympic WS-100 and WS-110. All are used for EVP recordings. EVP stands for Electronic Voice Phenomena; A theory that spirits can imprint their voice on recording media that we can’t hear until played back.
Our Pride and Joy, the H2 Recorder…. a 4 mic , 360 degrees recorder
Or we use cassette type recorders like the CTR-122
Walkie Talkies:
Walkie Talkies are a must. We use Motorola FV200’s. Not only do they serve for clear and concise communication between parties, but in the event of an emergency , people can get to you. We never send a team out without them.
Ambient Air Thermometer:
For measuring ambient air temperatures (cold or hot spots) we use an Omega HH501AT digital thermometer. This works well for discovery of fluctuating temperature spots. There is an excellent article on this by David Betz entitled “The IR Thermometer Pitfall” located at The Atlantic Paranormal Society webpage. You can access that article HERE. One method we use is to get a base line average of all the rooms in the house.
IR Thermometer:
This is good for determining surface temperature.
822A and CellSensor EMF meters:
This is one of the most important pieces of equipment to have on an investigation in my opinion. High EM fields can have many different effects on a person. Besides being detrimental to your health, they can cause the feeling of paranoia, the feeling of being watched, visual hallucinations, etc.
Omega OM-EL-USB-2 Temperature / Humidity / Dew point Data logger:
Sony Handycam DCR-SR42:
MT-K000-JN03-16 Safe Home DVR Recording System:
This DVR Recorder is 4 Channel 30 FPS , night vision enabled. Unfortunately it has no ability to port media. We found this out a little too late. BUT, we are lucky to have it.
Panasonic DMR-EH75V Home system:
Being that our DVR monitoring station (pictured above) has no way of porting video, we need this to burn evidence to DVD and for editing purposes. (stolen from my television *sigh*)
